Subject: Improve all the Escalators in North Academic Center(NAC)

The purpose of this memo is to recommend improving the system of escalators in the NAC building. Escalators are one of the most important devices in the NAC building, and hundreds and hundreds of students and staff use it every day. When escalators break down might cause students and staff to be delayed. Not to mention the danger of escalator failure. Therefore, recommending improving all the escalators in NAC is more important than you can imagine.

Summary

North Academic Center(NAC) is the most popular building that the students like to stay in, and it has the largest population flow than other buildings. In a building like that, escalators have become an essential tool. There are a total of two escalators and two elevators in the building, but as far as I know, many students prefer to use escalators which saves much time from waiting for the elevator. Otherwise, as a student every weekday using the escalator in NAC, I found the escalators have many issues. Sometimes the escalators would vibrate suddenly, which reflects a huge safe hidden trouble. High-frequency suspension and maintenance of the escalators not only influences the students or staff get to work on time, it also costs a lot of money. Improving the escalators system, corporate with a professional escalator company is a good way could help to solve this problem.

Discussion

I still remember the first time when I came to this college, I was fascinated by the building of the city college. And the first building I got in is the NAC, but when I saw the escalator was suspension and maintenance, I felt a little surprised that the college has that much wonderful building but the escalator was broken. Sometimes, the details make the college perfect, improving the escalators system could give a better impression to the visitors, attract more talent to our school. The escalators are an essential tool in NAC, not only because there is the biggest library, but also has the most classrooms in all college buildings. Those reasons make NAC be a place with the largest population flow. Two escalators and two elevators should be enough for the huge population flow, but a certain part of escalators shut down every day or every other day. That makes many people delete and crowd when they are using the rest escalators or elevators. To deal with many students and staff working in the NAC, we need an escalator company to improve the escalators.

I understand that inspecting all the escalators in NAC would cost a lot of money by the professional company, however keeping frequency suspension and maintenance it makes more loss. We could discuss the prices with the company if they give the discount or cheaper prices to us we could make long term cooperation with them. Making regular inspection is a good way to prevent escalators from breaking down again. That saves a lot of money from maintenance costs.

If we want to repair the escalator system, we need to figure out the main problem that makes the escalators have.  When the escalator company came, they could spend the day checking for it and find the main problems. As long as the company identified the main problem, the company will notify the school, making the plan and setting up the schedule to fix it. To avoid inconvenient daily school time of the students and staff, the escalator company can occur during the close school days.

Recommendation

I appreciate your review of this proposal. I would like to discuss this initiative further if you are convenient. And we should listen to other voices from the college. People say: two heads are better than one, we could invite the student organizations from the college to join in this discussion, share their opinions and advice. You can email me at [email protected] to arrange a meeting, and I will notify the staff and students.
